On the day of Pentecost, Peter proclaimed how people are saved by Christ. "Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins" (Acts 2:38). Those who did so were saved from sin (Acts 2:40) and added to the church (Acts 2:47). These baptized believers were later called "disciples" (Acts 6:7). So a true disciple is a baptized believer who has been added to Christ’s spiritual body, the church. [more next week]
