 DUTY IN SUM AND SUBSTANCE  [1]

          Four expressions found in 1 Peter 2:17 set forth the sum and substance of our duty to God and man.  Notice first, “Honor all men.”  Regardless of a man’s place or position in life, honor or respect is due.  This is because we are created in God’s image; we are the object of divine compassion, as Jesus died for each person.  We honor people by respecting their personality and by observing the “golden rule” (Matthew 7:12).   (more next week)
