SEVEN TIMES IN ONE DAY?  [2]

          Forgiveness!  What a challenge.  While we properly understand that Jesus was not teaching in Matthew 18:22 a literal 490 times (seventy times seven) in forgiveness, we do, however, face the danger of practicing it on a too general or too broad basis.  Jesus narrows it down for us to a daily basis.  He said, “Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.  And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him” (Luke 17:3-4).   (more next week)
